Abstract

Global concerns related to environment and food security led circular bioeconomy as an assuring approach to resolve global problems. The biomaterials (bioplastics) and bioenergy can sustain the relationship of energy and environment and be a substitute for fossil-based products. Thereby, contributing towards a sustainable environment and circular bioeconomy by utilizing biorefinery wastes for biopolymer (green plastics) production. Therefore, this review aims to highlight various waste biorefineries for bioplastic production as a sustainable pathway towards circular bioeconomy emphasizing solution to global challenges through biorefinery approaches for biopolymer production that led to sustainable environment and economy. This biorefinery approach for biopolymer production with circular bioeconomy can also help to tackle emission of greenhouse gases and carbon management through bioprocesses involving low-carbon economy.
