About the book

Description

Basic Gastro-Enterology: Including Diseases of the Liver covers the nervous system and the gastro-intestinal tract. This book consists of 25 chapters that evaluate the diseases of the buccal mucous membranes, the control of acid secretion by parietal cells, and the causes of hematemesis and melaena. Some of the topics covered in the book are the diseases of salivary glands; gastric carcinoma; neoplastic diseases of the oesophagus; causes of dysphagia; gastric motility and emptying; problem of recurrent ulceration; and complications related to gastrectomy. Other chapters deal with the acute reactions due to drugs and poisons, the lesions of the hepatic artery, and the clinical varieties of cirrhosis. The diagnosis of anorectal disease is provided. The concluding chapters are devoted to the management and treatment of ulcerative colitis. The book can provide useful information to doctors, pathologists, students, and researchers.
